High Output pups with PodXT? High Gain w/Dual Air Nortons
Alright, so I've heard a few stories of people saying that their high powered pickups didn't really come out so great through the PodXT...
Now thing is, I'm considering getting a new guitar soon, and this little ''myth'' has been annoying me a bit as I play and record 90% of the time through my POD... Personally I have a Dimebucker right now, sounds really heavy, but I'm under the impression that it's has so much output that's it's creating a little extra fizz in the POD... (I know that the POD inherently has some fizz) So what about it!? Will we "bust" this "myth"!? (I should stop watching TV... )Also, how do Air Nortons in the Bridge react to high-gain? I've heard a few samples but I couldn't make it out that much...
Up the shut fuck, you must.

Its a very unique choice to have an air norton in the bridge based on the need of lower output. Why not try a paf7? Those come in with a k7 and are lower output pickups but pretty nice and clear.
EDIT: Just realized - you didnt state whether your next guitar was a 6/7 so take my advice accordingly. |

My main guitar has EMG 707's. My other 7 that's been getting lots of love lately has a Blaze Custom in the bridge. They both sound pretty badass through my XTL, but definately a bit different. I always have to drop the mids with my 7621 with the BC.
I think they both sound heavy as hell and relatively tight. You're not really going to eliminate the POD's fizz, but I haven't had an issue with my pups creating more. It's all in how you program the POD. You can always tweak the high end a bit.
I am the mask you wear.

Also, as far as Air Nortons in the bridge go, I just don't see them being good bridge pups. I know alot of people use the Blaze neck in the bridge to get some solid tone.
