Buzzing and Noise
just installed some pickups, they are earthed properly and everything is fine electronically, but the sound is terrible. the neck sounds like it's a million miles away from the strings, it's piss weak, and the bridge sounds like it's a neck pickup (if that makes any sense), all muddy and rubbish, not to mention they both buzz like hell.
Ideas? |

You wired them wrong. It sounds like you have the neck out of phase with itself. I'm not sure about the bridge, though...
You've got your head down You've got your eyes closed You look so pitiful now Your body encrusted with ash Breath heavy with toxins Hair singed and matted Clothes frayed and burnt You are left with nothing |

I have a 3-way selector switch but these pups came off an ibanez s series with a 5-way, i did a test with a v-meter, and it's wired correctly, if u wanna check the pups follow this link http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/pic...p-explain.html

maybe it's just pure incompatiblity with the parts? or perhaps because my volume pot is only 250k when it should be 500?
Ok worst case scenario - i have to get rid of the neck humbucker and i just have the bridge with no selector switch (which would actually look pretty sweet.... hmmm....). how do you wire that? does it get soldered straight to the volume pot? |

There is almost 0 chance of incompatibility, the description you gave seems like you wired it wrong, pots only take away a bit of brightness, 500 is the preferred way for humbuckers, but it isn't necessary.
Pics might help, along with the wiring scheme your using. |
