Opinion on Dimarzio Tone Zone pickup in the neck position

I own an Ibanez RG320DXQM (basswood body with quilted maple top, bolt-on maple neck, rosewood fingerboard), and I was wondering what you guys think about putting a Tone Zone in the neck of this guitar. I've heard a couple of samples online, and I think it sounds cool, but I would like to get a few more opinions on this matter. I have an X2N in the bridge by the way. If you can recommend any other neck pickup instead of the tone zone that would be a better match for the X2N, let me know. Thank you in advance.

i don't have any experience with tone zones, but i'm a huge fan of evolutions.
they're incredibly articulate and are not muddy at all.
however, they're also very unforgiving, so you have to make sure your playing is top notch.

I'm typing this on my knees with my butt in the air. -Drew

The X2n is a very high output pickup. Thus matching it up with a neck pickup is kinda hard and thus is based on your unique tone.

I would say check out the Air Norton or evolution, evolution II in the neck.

Didn't Michael Romeo from Symphony X use the X2N (bridge) / TZ (neck) combo?

do you think you'll have it installed by friday?

edit: also, i finally had time today to sit with the dragon and really tweak all the settings to find something i liked, and man, that thing is just ridiculous. all i need is a delay, a noise gate, a custom OD pedal from our very own LOC, and maybe a MXR 10-band eq, and i'll be set. forever.

I hope so. I think I might be able to get my brother-in-law to help me tomorrow or Monday, but it's not for certain yet.

The ToneZone is my favourite DiMarzio pickup, but only really in the bridge. Saying that though, I have never really tried it in the neck position, so I can't comment 100%. But my favourite pickup combo will always be a ToneZone in the bridge, and then a PAF Pro in the neck. Great combo with a nice range of sounds.

The Paul Gilbert combo all the way!
