Question Horizontal grain on guitar body.

I've never seen a guitar body with the wood grain running horizontal. It usually follows the direction of the neck, and I was wondering if there's any reason in particular that it's done this way.

I believe it has something to do with how it resonates.

You've got your head down
You've got your eyes closed
You look so pitiful now

Your body encrusted with ash
Breath heavy with toxins
Hair singed and matted
Clothes frayed and burnt

You are left with nothing

yes, there is. wood grain is stronger in the direction that the grain lines go, so carpenters always build things with the grain running the longest direction of the thing they're building. for an instrument, strength is a secondary issue to resonance, but it's still important.

My first thought was just that it's easier to find a tree with a diameter the width of the body then it is to find a tree whose diameter is the length of the body.
