Going to refinish my 6 string ibanez...

it´s a black RG, and it´s going to be completely stripped of all paint, down to the wood, and then i´m gunna coat it with a mahogany-red veneer, and then i´m gunna wax-oil it...

first, i´ll sandpaper away all the paint, and when i reach the wood, i´ll be gradually changing sandpaper degrees to finer types, and the last round, i´ll be going over it with 400 "fine-ness" sandpaper...

i´ll borrow my girlfriend´s camera to make a pic-story for you guys

also, i´ll speak to guitar shops that do repairing, if they can remove the fretboard on the neck and replace it with a fretless one

so yes, you heard me right, a 6 string fretless RG, with a mahogany red matte wax-oiled finish... my mom works at the paint store where she bought all the stuff i needed for the project, and i was there to inspect the colors and feel wood that was treated this way, and i gotta say, it´s gunna be SMOOOOOTH

also, getting a soldering iron on friday

EDIT: also, i forgot to say, i´ll be tuning it to an open tuning... either CGCGCE, or AEAEAE

...

and one day i´ll be installing a sustainer on the bastard :P

it will be a picstory indeed... the fretless neck isn´t gunna happen just yet though, that´s for later on... i don´t have the funds for it yet... i think :P

I can't find the thread at the moment BUT I suggest using a heat gun instead of just sandpaper..That shit takes forever.

i got a sander, so it´s not gunna take too long :P

i´ve tried it by hand before, and it does indeed take forever... needless to say, i gave up after a couple minutes :P

anyways, i think this is gunna look amazing... i can´t wait to do this
