I have been thinking for a wile if what pickups should i get to replace the stock ones in my 7 string. i was thinking of emg 707's because my guitar has basswood i couldn't really think of anything else that would work well with this type of wood any suggestions? |

Steve Vai, maybe? ![]() There are plenty of PUs that work with basswood. EMGs should be your last choice if your making a blind purchase on a PU, because 1) they require routing which you can't undo if you don't like them 2) if you think you might like their sound (or a sound similar) you can wait for the blackouts to arrive in standard size. You've got your head down You've got your eyes closed You look so pitiful now Your body encrusted with ash Breath heavy with toxins Hair singed and matted Clothes frayed and burnt You are left with nothing |

![]() | If you get 707s you're going to have to do some routing on your guitar. If you're uneasy about that you may want to wait for seymour duncan blackouts or go for dimarzio d-activators which aren't active but are voiced to sound active (if that makes any sense). Both the Blackouts and D-activators are a regular 7 string size so you won't have to dremel your guitar to get them to fit. |

![]() | i checked it out. im not looking for a straight active tone i like passive too. im looking for a pickup that will add lots of body and smoothness at the same time. something thats good for deathmetal/blackmetal. |
