Can anyone tell me where I can get one of these for my BM?

The guys at Conklin wont help me because its not one of their guitars so I need to look elsewhere...any ideas?

These guys supply Conklin's stuff:

RMC Pickups

Downside is the 13 pin standard that all of the guitar synths use only support six distinct notes at a time, so Conklin has to be stretching the truth on what they can do. It's called a "hexaphonic" system for a reason

We were discussing this in the extended range forum, the only way to do it and have it work would be to use 2 midi preamps with 2 13 pin outs going to 2 breakout boxes and have 1 for 6 strings and one for 2.

I just emailed Conklin and got an answer back, I was correct, their MIDI output is only six strings. You can do piezos for all eight strings, but current midi systems only support six strings.

Thanks for the help. Looks like i'm stumped then.
I am amazed someone hasn't made full 8 string MIDI gear.
The wait continues.............................

Yeah the problem is the 'standard' that everybody uses in the 13 pin interface is only designed to handle six strings... I don't even care about most of the stuff those systems can do, I just want midi out for all the strings I use to feed a laptop

when, oh when, will the day come when the whole midi thing is in the guitar, and there´s a midi output from the guitar, and you can plug directly into any midi device and play... when that day arrives, i will be filled with glee...

So basically they'd have to make an octaphonic pickup system?

I'm assuming he's going to want to mass produce these rack pies, and why not? I love racks, I love pies, so put them together and you have pie covered titties. - JJ

Technically, yes

IMHO the problem with the current 13 pin system is it's not really designed to do midi, it's designed to do a ton of stuff with zero expandability. The 13 pin system carries six distinct signals for piezo pickups, a signal for magnetic pickups, and if I recall a mix of the above. It's designed to be used as a single massive out. It's cool and you can do a lot of crazy stuff... as long as you never want more than six strings.

I think for general usage a systems that just takes a piezo signal and converts it to midi would be more useful, not to mention arbitrarily expandable. I really wish I knew more about electronics as I'd be tempted to try to build something.
