Floyd Rose Questions
Thinking of getting a guitar with a licensed Floyd Rose tremolo. The guitar is the Agile Interceptor.
My question is how much modification needs to be done to get an Ibanez Edge 7 string tremolo to work in the Interceptor? Is there a low profile 7 String Floyd Rose tremolo? All I have found are the Whale Tail Floyds which I think would be ok but eventually get on my nerves. I rarely use the trem for its purpose but rather like it for tuning stability. Any ideas? If its just a little bit of sanding and mild routing Im down with that sickness. |

Actually, I think it involves redrilling the post holes for the larger edge posts, and seeing as the floyd and floyd licenced trems came on the rg450's and the like, it'd mean that you would need to do some routing to get it to fit, ie, changing the width of the trem cavity etc etc etc.
It is possible, but i'd look at jemsite for all the "can i replace my trs wwith an edge" discussion. |

If you barely ever use the trem I wouldn't bother changing it. You'd be wasting your money.

^ What he said. Just buy a Tremol-no and be done with it.

I agree, a tremol-no would work great, and even increase sustain, and if you ever feel like using the trem the option is open to you at any time.
I'm assuming he's going to want to mass produce these rack pies, and why not? I love racks, I love pies, so put them together and you have pie covered titties. - JJ

Personally I hate the fine tuners on shitty floyds, it would ALMOST be worth replacing just for that. I don't know how bad they are on the Agile's though, but the one that was on my 307 sucked balls.

The Agile Floyds are supposed to be pretty cheap. On the bright side, OFR's are relatively affordable ($200) and should be a drop-in retrofit.

Are OFRs better than the Gotoh Floyds? I am researching quite a bit on line and am finding the Gotoh ones getting better reviews..
