What the hell is wrong with my guitar?
So I have my RG7420. I put some new strings on it SIT 11-50+60 for the B.
Now whenever I fret anything on the low B, it's wildly out of tune although while open it's in tune. It's really apparent while playing a power chord. I know it's not the E because the rest of the guitar sounds perfect. It's intonated as best as possible and it's not that far off, but I've had guitars with intonation totally out of whack and they never sounded that bad. ![]() |

Are you tuning to 440A?
Its happened to me before that my tuner got mistakenly switched to 430 and every open string was "tuned" but played together sounded like shite |

Yep, 440A.
Im thinking the same as D-EJ, even if every other string was tuned in relation to 430 that they would still sound in tune with each other. But that's not my problem. The only thing I could come up with is the string not sitting right in the nut. But it seems to be seated fine so ![]() |

I don't know, 60 seems pretty light for a low B - could you be pressing it too hard or bending it slightly? Pick attack could also be an issue - if I tried playing a 60 in B my attack could knock it up to a C# before it settled back down.
EDIT: For more detail, I'm going to guess that you're getting 16-17 pounds of tension on that string and that'll be pretty light compared to the 20-21 on the E. Consider a 10-46 string set and think about how a low E feels on that - that's what the B is turning out to be. It takes no effort to knock a 10-46 set out of tune so I'd take a close look at that. Yeah, I generally use a 68, but the shop didnt have any. Im waiting on juststrings.com to get me my Elixers.
Its not that Im pressing hard either, I thought that's what it was so I tried the lightest touch possible and it still does it. ![]() |

If your gonna play that high a gauge set - you wanna play a 64+. BTW - thats pretty heavy a gauge for playing in E. also are you sure your trem is properly setup? The strings are properly in there? |

Everything is fine besides the low B. Strings are in good, trem is level. It's also tuned 1/2 step down to Bb.
