Help with string guages.

Hi folks, i'm new to the 7 string scene and just bought myself a 'Jeff Loomis" model Schecter.I have a few questions on string guages and tension for this guitar.I dont know what strings it will be factory fitted with but I want the same feel as I would playing a 6 string fitted with 9-42(25.5 scale).I have no experience with the extended scale guitar so if anyone else here has the same scale guitar, could you give me a few pointers in string selection.Thanx.

Due to the length, there will be more tension with 9-42+56s then on a 25.5, but with the additional scale length, you wont notice the 1.5-2 lbs more of tension. I would suggest a 9-42 with a 58, almost equal tension in B, and will give you extra girth for A if you drop it (not the guitar the tuning thilly gewthe)

I would just stick with 9's for now. The Loomis won't give you a big jump in tension so I wouldn't worry about it. The difference is about 8% or on a set of 9s like 1 lb per string. Also the longer the scale length the easier it is to bend the string so it all kind of balances out.
