String gauges

Well, I am currently using a 9-52 set on my hellraiser. My dillema is that I'm probably going to go have my truss rod adjusted very soon, and I don't want it to be adjusted for 9-52's and I suddenly want to put on 11's. So, I was thinking about putting on 10-56's (I play in A# most of the time) and having the rod adjusted for that. Do I need to go thicker? (I play Nevermore, BTW)

It just seemed the stock strings on my hellraiser (10-56's) sucked balls, it might have been the brand, but they were muddy and no fun to play on.

So you want to put 11s on your guitar or 10s?

I don't know, 10's would be my guess. The ones included with my HR were all muddy and shit, so it wasn't a good first impression. :\

The set of strings that comes on any guitar can pretty much be assumed to be crap. Even if it's a good brand of strings, they'll be crappy by the time you get to them. A string change is the first thing I do with any new guitar. If the tension felt good, you can probably stick with 10's.

well, If you're going for the Nevermore thing, Jeff uses .070's for his Bb. i'd suggest at least a .060.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

It felt alright.

Can I rephrase my main question? Say i had my truss adjusted for 9-52's, would I need to adjust it again, for say, a 10-56/58 set?

Yeah, thats what sucks. No string packs for 7 strings come with 60's or higher.

Ideally, yes, but you can get by perfectly fine as long as you're sure to at least readjust the action and intonation.

Ok. I don't think I could ever get used to a .60 or higher, so I think I will get my truss adjusted sometime this week, and later on throw on some 10-58s.

Wrong. Dean Markley signature series....which are the ones I use and love come with a .60. Of course this is probably the only string set in existence that does. It would be really nice if D'addario or Elixir had a similar set.
