Bareknuckle vs Lundgren (in Basswood)?
Well I have noodled around with my JP7 for many hours in the past week and this guitar is amazing! The neck pickup is absolutely fantastic, fits my playing style and tone requirements to a "T" so that one is definitely a permanent keeper. The bridge pickup (D-Sonic 7) leaves something to be desired though, IMHO. I can't afford to do it right away but I'm planning on buying a new pickup for the bridge so I'm looking for suggestions. I'd like something custom-wound as I don't think anything DiMarzio puts out for 7's is going to fit me so I'm down to either a Bareknuckle Miracle Man 7 or a Lundgren M7. The JP7 is made out of basswood and has a birdseye/flamed maple neck if that helps.
I've heard a couple clips of the M7 and it sounds cool but to me it sounds like a 1-trick pony, and I'm not ALWAYS going to be using the 7 for chugga-chugga stuff so I'm not sure I want to go with Lundgren. The price difference is also pretty significant. I haven't heard any clips of the Miracle Man 7 yet, but if it sounds anything like the Miracle Man 6 I owned previously I could see myself being very happy with it. The MM6 was very articulate, however I had it in a solid mahoghany guitar so I'm not sure how it would react in a basswood guitar? Any help? Like I said, I'm not ordering it right away, but when I can it's going to be one of my next purchases so I'm trying to get it nailed down and then I can figure out what needs to be set aside for the new purchase. EBMM needs to work with DiMarzio on coming up with a better bridge pickup for the JP7 as the custom neck pickup sounds freaking perfect to my ears! Thanks guys!![]() |

Sweet! I look forward to hearing the clips! If you don't mind, could you record both a high gain as well as a clean clip of the bridge MM7 please? I have to wait a little while anyways, still have to finish paying off the JP7 before I can buy more stuff.... my girlfriend is awesome but I don't want to take advantage of the situation since she's always been cool about letting me get stuff. ![]() |

Email Tim at BK and ask him.
I told him what was going on with my Carvin 7 (tone wise that I didn't like) told him the body woods , my rig, and what I'm going to be playing and he suggested a cold sweat for the neck (which arrived this morning) and a Nail Bomb for the bridge which is on it's way. Yoiu might not want an MM in a Basswood body , you might want a Holy Diver or one of his others.
Can I be the devil on your shoulder?

It was Tim who told me to get the MM7.Basswood body ,trem and maple neck/rosewood board.
I am going to do some comparison clips with the V8 anyways ,so you can hear clearly how it sounds.Clean is not a problem too. Cheers Bro! |

Thanks man, that helps!!! It seems like the Miracle Man sounds good in any body wood, because it sounded great in Mahoghany!

Yep, real tight, cutting sound. Great for woods that have a tendency to get muddy
