Seven String PUP Question

Alright fellow forumers.. forumites.. ehhh.. ahhh.. you get the idea.. anyways...
Got a new seven coming (1527).. and I know I'm gonna yank the stock pups out.. in my 7620 I've got an EVO 7 bridge and a Air Norton 7 neck.. I may go with the same combo in the new arrival, but I was wondering if anyone here had an objective opinion on the D Sonic 7. Good experiences or bad, I'd be interested in hearing them. Also thoughts on the different coil positionings?
I have an endorsement with DiMarzio, but I don't want to request a pup and not like it.. not into wasting anything. There's nothing really wrong with my above mentioned pup combo (I love it) just maybe seeking out different flavors.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Kev

www.dimarzio.com (look for Kevin Dillard on the "Players Page" on the complete players list. Soundclips available there, also on the pickup pages for Tone Zone, Super3, HS-3, PAF Pro, etc.)

The D-Sonic 7 sounds better in mahogany than basswood, but overall is a great pickup. Given DiMarzio's exchange policy (even for non-endorsers) I'd give it a shot and see if you like it. It's one of the clearest pickups going, and despite what some others have said I've never had any noise issues with mine.

BTW this should probably be in the Pickups forum

I got Blaze Custom's in my 7680 and love the sound. Blaze II sound pretty damn good, also.
