...has arrived.

(Yes, I know, I'm lame, I took no pics. My camera's full. )

I put it in last night, and a quick brush through my Peavey practice amp revealed that it sounded VERY similar to the '80s JB I have in my Zion. It's not as hot as a modern one, but man, does it sing...

Anyway, more after rehearsal tonight.

I suspect it might come back a tad faster.

One thing I absolutely noticed - my big complaint with the JB7 is that the bottom end was too muddy. After 10 minutes of screwing around with it last night, I don't think that's a problem with this one...

I always use "woolly" because, well, it sounds less muddy and more muffled if you're not very careful with pickup height. I have the rewind running up closer to the strings, like my old 6 string JB, and it's still very "snappy".

The real question - hard for me to answer last night, with no volume and no Zoom (are you ever going to buy one, Dave?), is does it have enough output for me?

It's interesting that you bring up the 80s JB model. I've heard it argued on the Bare Knuckles forum that the modern JBs sound different that ones from 20-25 years ago. According to Steve Stevens his signature model the Rebel Yell is very similar to an original JB and it's DC resistance is about 14.5 K, IIRC.

The only proof he needed for the existance of God was music.

Wolf put my JB7 on the meter before he took it apart and it was 19.2K (!). This one's at 14.7 or so, IIRC.

The modern JBs absolutely sound different. I have a '98 in my Dinky and an '87 (ish) one in my Zion, and they sound VERY different - the modern one is much hotter, and less "sweet".
