Best pickup for fat chug and rythm?
I'm curious what's the forum's opinion when in comes to the best pickup for a really fat chug and awesome rythm?
For a 6 string, there's nothing crazier than EMG85, APC Persuader Custom and for ultimate crunch the SD SH-13 Dimebucker But for 7 strings I'm really not that sure....
Up the shut ...., you must.

Evo7 man. In the bridge position, its absolutely brilliant. Its tight and sharp yet crisp.
I would look in this forum and you will find that there are a few threads like this one where poeple were looking for tight bridge pups. |

The Lundgren M7. Evo's are very good, but pickups like the M7 or Bareknuckles really are on the next level. |

I think the Blaze chugs quite well - it's got a great low-mid growl to it and doesn't need uber-hugh gain to get that gut-level feel to it, to sound good.

Are you talking about the Blaze Bridge?
And how is it that the Evo is a nice fat rythm pup? It's all high-end mostly for soloing no?? mmmmm EMG85 is sooo godlike...

If we're talking about DiMarzios, for "fat rhythm", I'd probably go with the Blaze Neck in the bridge or the D Sonic 7. The PAF7 in mahogany is incredible as well. The Blaze bridge and others are great too, but I don't think of them in the ways you are describing. |

Duncan Custom. It is an absolutely brutal pickup with a massive low end punch and clear, articulate highs. I love a pickup that makes the rhythm sound seem to implode when you start palm muting, almost a THWUMP sound, and this pickup has it in spades.

I agree there as well, I was only thinking of DiMarzios for some reason. The Duncan custom is a good way to go. The low end can be almost too much with certain guitars though, so be careful.

I think the X2N-7 cuts it quite well. So do Blazes.

I'll second that, I like my Blaze's. Got no reason to change. I might experiment with additional guitars, but the RG7620 is keeping the Blaze's in it. I'm looking to find an equivalent match to them in output & tone for my six stringer. WWW.MYSPACE.COM/TONYFLYINGSQUIRRELMUSIC http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page...?bandID=268162 Seven Strings to rule them all, Seven Strings to find them, Seven Strings to bring them all and in the music bind them. |

I'm curious, would throwing a Custom in a Mahogany guitar create somewhat of a honk in the mids and a fart in the lows??

Does DiMarzio have a pickup that is comparable to a Duncan Invader or a Duncan Custom?
