![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Locking Nut Shims - Necessary? I picked up my RG1527 yesterday, which happens to be my first guitar with a double-locking trem. While attempting to set it up, I noticed that the nut height was too high, especially on the heavier strings. So, I removed the nut to see if there were any excessive shims I could take away, but I found only two, each on its own side on top of the wood, not stacked. My question is: would it do any harm if the nut is installed without any shims beneath it? ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks for the replies. I did take a look at the shims, but their height didn't appear to be as large as the gap between the first fret and the strings. I could be mistaken, however. I decided against messing with it at this point, as I'll need to do a complete setup when I get hold of new pickups and locking studs. ![]() |

"IBANEZ RULES!!" - Ibanez Guitars - New and Used stocks official Ibanez shims, if you need 'em. "...and everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon." |
