DiMarzio VS EMG Pickups
Hey guys,
I really wanna change the pickups in my 7string. Just wanna hear your opinions. I was thinking about getting one of these setups: EMG 707 Neck - EMG 81-7 Bridge OR DiMarzio D Activator Neck - Bridge Thanx for your help!!! |

What guitar are you modding? There's more work involved in installing active pups than passive.

Pesonally I like the sound of passive pups over active. Plus I'm not a fan of routing the body for the larger Emg pups and the battery compartment. If you go with the Dimarzios you can change them out later without permanent mods to the guitar.

I'd start with the Dimarzios. Especially since Caparison's arent cheap, it makes sense to at least go through all the passive options you have before routing up your guitar for actives.
Bareknuckles are also worth a try, for you European types - they're pricey as hell in the states with exchangerates and what not, but no worse than Dimarzos would be with VAT and the like. Ditto on Lundgrens, if you want a passive EMG alternative.

Go bareknuckle IMO, but if you don't dig them try out lundgrens. The Bareknuckles are a bit cheaper in price but I've played several sets and they all owned. I've heard good things about Lundgrens but they're really expensive so I've never bothered. ![]() ![]() |

man, those lundgrens are like 200 bucks or some shit, thats insane, most of the guys here are dimarzio guys, so there gonna tell you dimarzio, but i'm and emg guy, so you know what i'm gonna tell ya? if your not sure you like emgs i'd try some out at the store first, but i hate it when people say "well you will have to router your guitar and thats too much work", well, its all about the search for tone, and those are usually the same guys that work a 40 hour week to buy a 1500 dollar amp head, why? search for tone
