Clear coating and finishing my guitar

Hey, my first post
well, i just bought an ibanez Rg1527 used for $350 and it has an unifinished body. Whats the easiest way to put a clear coat on the wood. And do is it easy enough for someone who has done no guitar or wood work before or do you reccomend i professionally done.

Thanks for you comments

Hi - welcome to SS.org

Was this the RG1527 on Craigslist for Orange COunty? I almost bought it but decided to get an RG7620 for the lo-pro.

Anyways for the clear coat - you might want to just seal the wood with a wood sealant and then a clearcoat.

If it's unfinished you could use the opportunity to paint it some other color unless you like it natural. I've heard the basswood doesn't look all that hot, but I've never dealt with it before myself. A swirl would be cool though.

Easiest clearcoat would be some spray cans of poly. There is a fair amount of work involved and you better spend some time reading up on it. But it can be done. If your looking for perfect then a professional would be my first choice.

cool cool yeah i don't really have much of a space to do all this in (no garage just a room) so yeah probably professional would be best. and yeah it is the 1527 from craigslist, i thought it was a pretty good buy feels nice and had my guitar teacher set it up really well, i'm out in irvine too by the way
