Advice: Best way to remove paint from a body

Ok - Im totally fed up. I cant seem to even scratch the surface of my rg7620 project with 60grit sandpaper. I mean i can go on for hours to only find a swirl in the clearcoat and nothing removed.

Any ideas on how to strip the paint the fastest?

You could try a heat gun or stripper

I started with 40 grit with my orbital sander & it still took the better part of 90+ minutes to break through the various degrees of finish to get to the wood.

Short of doing lots & lots of sanding, Jasco paint stripper is the closest I've come to quickly removing paint, but make sure there's plenty of ventilation, wear oven cleaning gloves & still get used to doing a fair bit of sanding.

power sander and patience. if you dont need to go through the sealer,DON'T...
ibanez paint is a mofo, the sealer they use is bulletproof.you can prime over it though. i use 220 grit and a 1/4 sheet sander. and it takes hours. you have to do inside the horns by hand.(which sucks)

Yeah - priming over it might work. I have too see. I found a friend with a power sander. Let me see if it works.

Or you can use an oscillating spindle sander.

On my last refinish I was able to get the paint and clear coat off with a razorblade (in the fashion you'd take a sticker off a window), leaving me just the sealer; Scractched as hell (the wood itself was untouched by the blade), but was easy to sand off and redo.

The Ibanez finishes are definitely the hardest I have ever come across. Thats probably why they chip so easily since the paint is brittle. I used 220 with a palm sander and made it through to bare wood in only an hour for the top and back of one body.
