![]() | Has anyone tried this? Hey all, Over the last few days I've been pondering putting a Blaze single coil in the bridge position of my RG7321 so I can get some super clean dark tones. The Rg currently has a pickguard with a single 707 so I'm thinking of buying a new pickguard and fitting a single coil instead, slanted strat style. i know alot of you will think I'm nuts swapping a 707 for a single coil but hey, different strokes etc! Has anyone tried a seven with a single coil in the bridge? And before anyone suggests it...I rather have a single coil as opposed to a coil split humbucker purely for aesthetic purposes. I'm going for that Fender Esquire kinda vibe. Any advice or comments would be great! Thanks Sam |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Welcome aboard Sam! Y'know, that sounds like an interesting idea - certainly original enough - I haven't heard of any 7-stringer doing just one SC in the bridge by itself yet. Very clean and minimalist-looking. Yes, like an Esquire (now a 7 stg Esquire would be cool, hmmm...but I digress). Tonally, it might be very limiting with just a single Blaze SC, but depending on your rig, you also might be pleasantly surprised. Worth a try, if for no other reason than to say you did in fact try that config. and found it to be cool or ass. ![]() Please be kind to snakes. They can't help it. ![]() |

![]() | You're right it would be limiting and I prefer the single coil sound in the neck position. It's funny how as soon as you write an idea down it suddenly seems less appealing than it did in your head! Maybe I'll go for the single coil in the neck position then and leave the 707 where it is. Now if only EMG made a 7 string single then I wouldn't have to replace my volume pot! Ah well! |

![]() ![]() ![]() | go for it dude. That'd be awsome, the idea has crossed my mind a few times, but i didn't know if it'd be good or bad in the end. Its a good pickup, so it should work fine. Do it and let us know how it goes (With recordings) ![]() http://www.myspace.com/korbainmusic (i need friends coz i just created it) haha |

That would be quite cool, you would then have an Armstrong Perspex kinda vibe without the shit-ridden system, provided you dont mind removing your strings every time you want to change the pickups! Go for it. If it doesnt work out, swap the EMG back in and route the Blaze pickguard start style and sell it to Drew. ![]() |

Maybe try a Kent Armstrong single, or as you're in the UK a Bare Knuckle? At some point I'm going to be getting some decent 7 string singlecoils and making h-s-s and s-s-s pickguards for my UV. |

YMMV. it was certainly cool to try it out, but i totally agree with metalfiend that most any other 7-string single-coil is going to sound better than the Blaze. _actual time_ : prog/math/metal/???? on myspace | |

![]() | Thanks for all ya input guys! I think I may go with the Kent Armstrong single if I go through with it, it seems to be the easiest and best value I can get in the UK. |
