Shielding question

i'm about to rewire my DR7 and am going to shield it as well. i was told to shield under the pickups and the entire control cavity. is this correct?

I haven't done this myself, but Stew Mac recommends shielding paint for the pickup routes.

yeah. that sheilding protects the wires in the electronics cavity from noise in the form of radio transmissions, wireless devices, etc. same goes for the pickup routes. if you sheild them, your sound will be quieter.

I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways,
we could reverse the particle flow through the gate.
We'll cross the streams.

Bartok is just really niceBartok is just really nice
You can also do it with shielding tape, either alu or copper will do, there's very little difference between them in terms of conductivity. Just make sure the pieces are electrically common- some of the stuff I have used has conductive glue so you just slap them on and it's all good, but some makes don't so you have to solder the pieces of tape together. This is not fun.
Test your commonality with a multi-meter set on the test function so it beeps when a circuit is made (if your meter doesn't have one, set it to the lowest resistance test, when you get a reading of 0 or as close as, your connected).
Then run all the shielding to the star point in the guitar (usually the volume pot body). You should only have one wire connected to the ground of the output jack.
