Poll: 707 or 81-7?

Pretty simple. Looking for nice tight, FF Obsolete sounding tone. Help me, dudes.

7StringofAblicK-This is my footswitch. it changes channels on my amp - just like on a television, but I only have four channels.

i've never tried an 81-7, but i have played a 707 in a few guitars and hated it. when i was all about EMGs in my six strings years ago, i always prefered the 81 over the 85 and 89. the 81 just has a distinct voice and character to it which the the others (EMGs) lack.

I went from a 707 to a 81-7 in my COW and I actually like the 707 a lot better

Didn't Dino use the 707?

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

A lot of 7 string EMG users use the 707 for lead playing, far more than use the 81-7 i would say.

Yeah,he did
The 707 that's in my COW7 actually sounds very different to the 707DC that's in my Dino.
I think in the early days of the 707 being developed along with Dino EMG were probably tweaking it differently with nearly every one they made for him until he was 100% happy with the tone.
The 707 in my Dino just has a paper sticker on the back with 'Cstm f/DC' and a date written on it in pen so i'm guessing it must have been a pre-production model or something,or maybe all of his were made separately from the production ones.

the 81-7, definitely/ IMO the 707 works great in the neck, very clear, very scooped, very almost single-coil-ish. Very what I don't want in the bridge.
