excatly, the 81 is a punch in the face with a bare fist, the 707 is like a punch when a boxing glove on, and most people use the 707 in the bridge cuz its been around for a while and the 81-7 is much newer

Agree.
I like the 81 better. The 707 is somewhat too nasal sounding. Lacks punch.

I mean even Rusty Cooley was in big expectation to get his 81-7.
I think things like ´War of the Angels´would sound way better with 81´s.

But the gear I´d really like to see around would be a 7 string Parallel Axis version of the Seymour Duncan Invader. That would be real tight!

I like the 707 in my Hellraiser. But I've always liked the 85 a lot more than the 81. What I'd really like is some 7 string Livewires.

The 81-7 is the tighter pickup in my experience, and I believe Dino's pickups were actually closer in design to an 81 than a 707. As EMG's have the quick connection plug, why not buy one of each to try them both and the return the one you decide isn't for you?

Yeah, it´s okay. I just wanted it to have a Parallel Axis version for bigger output, cause I´d rather not install an active pickup in my guitar and get a huge sound at cost of losing the personality of the woods.

Cool711 will become famous soon enough
I use both; 707 in neck and 81/7 in bridge.
The 81 is exactly suited to the sound I like, running three different amps (Marshall, Mesa and Mesa).

Doesn't matter which, the 81 makes the metal.

The 707 is surprisingly (at least to me) a really good neck pickup.

I spent the first 6 months trying to complain about it, but in the end, it was very well suited.

I use an Alnico II Pro in the neck of my 6, and an SH-6 in the bridge, so I was hoping to mimick this, but add more power and depth.

To me, the 707 and 81/7 do all this and more.
(And in relative terms for an active, the 707 has alot of the sweetness the Alnico II has IMO; But someone state something I didn't know which makes sense: Alnico versus the Ceramic).
