Mmm... velveeta in chili. I was thinking it looked more like custard in chocolate fudge pudding with some cherry sauce stirred in.

This picture of Scotts' VII was posted on 04/02 - my Birthday.

I just scored a VII HT Squire in Sunburst off Craigs List for $175.00 today.

I'll purchase a Tortoise Shell HSS pick guard from you Scott, as soon
as they're made available - add me to your Roster of Clients.

This thread is interesting. It's got me wanting a 7-string strat to mess around with.

glad you like it! but i'm not a custom builder or a shop with a roster of clients; i'm just a regular guy who makes his own stuff. i have no idea when i will make pickguards for myself again, or if i will be able to make any for other people. so you might want to look into other sources for a pickguard for your VII.

Yeah, I'm digging up old threads.
Did you get your single coils?

I've been researching this all day. I'm beginning to wonder if a Rio Grande Tallboy 7 in the neck, with the (RWRP-only) Carvin single coil in the middle might not be my best bet, though I still have no idea what the magnet in either is. I'll have to drop Carvin a line, too. No word yet from Rio Grande, but I've already contacted them.
Just some FYI stuff here.
The Carvin 7-string single-coil is ceramic.

What they call the "C13" on this page is the same thing they sell as the "AP13" ("AP13-1" for black, "AP13-2" for cream) on this page.
Carvin has only made one single-coil for seven strings, ever. Someone just changed their mind about what to call it and never updated the older page. It's only available in reverse-wound because, while Carvin sells pickups as parts, they don't design them specifically for parts sales. They are designed for their guitars. The only guitar in which this p'up has ever been used is the three-pickup DC747 where it's in the middle position between two C26 humbuckers.

Ok - here we go:

Chandler Guitars - Pickguards for Every Guitar

Pickguard Heaven: Materials

GROUP "E"

109 Red "Reissue" Tortoise shell 3-ply .090 - $54.00 .

"Reissue" no less, this on the Strat VII Sunburst hard tail H-H that will soon become an SSH - should arrive sometime next week from Missouri - I am so psych'd

130 Matte White/Black/White 3-ply .090 - will go on the Purple Strat VII vibrato SSH - $33.00.

Shoot some clear flat 'matte' on this to preserve the matte White surface.

I've fitted a Purple faced 'Stagemaster' reverse headstock neck - Black / Pearl locking Sperzels to this guitar - the White guard might make this Purple actually look like a good color choice.

I've a Black Strat VII vibrato guitar still in the original Box - that stays put.

My metallic Grey VII H-H hard tail was beat before I got it -
never seen a case - lives chair to chair.

That's a candidate for a White guard with White Rio Grande HB.

I read that the Tallboy pole pieces don't line up with Strat VII strings -
if this IS true - how bad is the alignment ?
