Wiring questions/ What's your favorite PU config?
I might be purchasing an Air Nortion and DS7 for my RG1527 relatively soon, and when I do, I'm planning on also doing a complete wiring overhaul.
So far, I plan to use a diagram I'll hopefully get from Leon soon. It will use a 3 way blade and I'll use push-push pots for series-parallel on each PU. I'm open to other suggestions also. So, first question, where can I get push-push pots for volume and tone? Second, it's my understanding that you need a different type of pot for volume and tone, so which goes with which? Thirdly, I think I've read somewhere that you're supposed to use a capacitor with either volume or tone, which one do you use it for, and what value? Is ther anything else I should know? If so, any advice is welcome! ![]() You've got your head down You've got your eyes closed You look so pitiful now Your body encrusted with ash Breath heavy with toxins Hair singed and matted Clothes frayed and burnt You are left with nothing |

Forget tone, Get two push pull pots for coil splitting and dual volumes, that way you can go from soft to heavy in a flick of a switch.
I would go to guitarelectronics.com and get a schematic. You can get your push-pull pots from Steward Mac, Universal jems. Yes volume pots are different from tone pots. Make sure you get pots with a value of 500k. You wire a capacity to both volume and tone. It exists to act like a high pass filter when the volume is low. So that when you lower the volume your high end doesnt just drop off the map. |

If you'll notice, I had asked for push-push, not push-pull. So which is which? I'm just guessing, but linear taper= tone and audio taper= volume? What size capacitor would I use for each? |

Oh - hmm. Whats a push-push pot? I mean how do you reset it without pulling it?
Audio taper is volume. Just use the same size capacity from your original setup. Go to ibanez.com and get the wiring diagram for the 1527. In there it will tell you the exact specs. |
