Blaze Pickup question

Okay I've been using the d sonic 7 in my K7 for a while now which we all know is Mahogany. I'm thinking of trying out the Blaze bridge pickup simply because I want something with more bass response than the d sonic 7 has....however still decent on treble. The paf7 is a wonderful pickup it's just that it's too bassy overall and doesn't have that extra gain and clarity and dynamics that I am looking for.

or would I be better off with the Blaze Custom being that I am still looking for a higher output pickup with nice gain......what I love about ordering online is I can always get my money back or returned for another if I'm not satisified and I'm just trying to expand my horizons.

Any help appreciated.

After reading up on the specs it soun ds like I may be going with the Blaze bridge. It seems like it may have a nice bass response and not too middy (I'm using a peavey 6505 BTW) so I don't think I need more mids and it also has decent treble. I think I'm looking for a warmer sound with definition.

Nothing against the DS7 just after playing it so long it's lacking something and it's the bass I know it just don't think it is the right choice for the 6505.

Well after talking with JPMDan he talked me into ordering the Evo 7 so I'll see how it goes.

Ah, the suffering. The sweet suffering.

Blaze customs are sweet as hell. I've never tried an Evo in a Mahogany guitar, I have though in Bass wood and hated it.

Let us know how it works, I would very interested in reading your experiences with it.

I'm a little confused here. you started with a D-Sonic, but you wanted more bass response. The PAF 7 was too muddy for you, which I can understand (if you like it otherwise, the regular Blaze is kind of like a PAF with balls). You thought about the Blaze Custom (my bridge PU of choice, BTW), but passed on it 'cause you didn't want the extra mids. Fair enough, and I'm with you up to there, but then you ordered an Evo 7? Did I miss something? It's an awesome pickup, but it just kind of seems like the opposite of what you said you were looking for.

the blaze and blaze custom are like night and day... the difference in output isn't real noticeable to me. i've found the custom works alot better in brighter guitars (maple, walnut, etc.). i personally like the low mid growl of the regular blaze alot better than the custom.

I went ahead and ordered both the Blaze bridge and the evo 7. I can check them both out and return what I don'tlike. I was told that the evo 7 was much better than the Blaze as far as bass response and everything and that the blaze sucks......I'm not saying who I'll have to prove him wrong but after reading reviews I think I am going to like the blaze better because I want a morre ballsy and deep sounding similar to the paf but a little more gain and less mud. If this post doesn't explain my reasoning for ordering what I did well fuck it it's all too damn frustrating trying to find what I want when I have different people telling me different things so I'll order everything and hear them for myself then I will know for sure. If I like the Blaze then I'll order the Blaze custom to compare.

BTW I still like the D sonic but it always seemed like something was missing with it and no doubt it's the lack of bass and balls.

did you ever try flipping it around brother? not with the metal stripe towards the bridge, but with the pole pieces toward the bridge. I got two sides of the spectrum with that move. I got more bass and high mids instead of it sounding like a chainsaw. so try flipping it around bro, with the pole pieces towards the bridge instead of the bar. its made to be able to do that

Looking for an Ibanez RG970XL

thanks I'll give this a try, my Blaze should be here tomorrow so I'd like to try that one out first. I'm planning on keeping the D sonic so this is something I can always try out later thanks for the tip. Yeah "Chainsaw" that's pretty damn close to what it sounds like.lol
