Tuning Stability On RGA321

ok so my friend has one of these but the tuning stability is pretty bad when you restring it upto the point it actuslly needs new srtings again. how would he go about improving this, would filing the nut help? he uses D'Addario 9-42

Stretching the strings would probably help. That's when you tune up the strings so that they stretch to their max length faster than when they're just in standard tuning.

Now I lay me down to sleep
Blah, blah, blah my soul to keep
If I die before I wake
I'll go to hell for heaven's sake

How about using a pencil to lube the nut? Have you done that?

Lubing the nut shouldn't be necessary to stabilize the tuning. I own an RGA121, and the tuning stability is excellent.

Do the strings fit properly in the nut? Or are the slots too tight? If so, it might need some filing.

Be the change you want to see in the world.

I'm puzzled as to how a fixed-bridge guitar could have "unstable" tuning unless the neck or bridge are loose, or the tuners are all slipping.
