What type of nut do you prefer, and why?

Well I only played guitars with plastic nut or with a locking nut (it looked like plastic to, is it possible?), but I think that a brass nut or a zero fret would be perfect for me, becouse the opend notes will sound like the fretted notes.

I've never used a zero fret or brass nut before, but floyd locking nuts are steel so I guess it would be a bit mellower than that.

Nut type really doesn't bother me much, but I like graphite nuts because they're black, I don't like the way bone looks.

Brass are cool, but in the end, it doesn't matter to me. i've played all the types. As long as they stay in tune, i don't give two fucks about it. its probably the thing i'm least picky about. as long as the nut is well made, its good.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

Actually, I've always like LSR Rollers. They hold the tuning really well. But like Ken said, that's all that matters. As long as they don't pinch the string and cause too many tuning issues, then they're all good to me.

I'm pretty indifferent I'm interested in trying Graphtech's Tusq nut though.

On anything non-locking I prefer Graphtech Tremnuts, acoustics I prefer bone or brass, which is bright and rings nice on open strings for fingerstyle alter-tuning pieces. Hedges knew the score.

Please be kind to snakes. They can't help it.
