Alex Skolnick Trio tone

Alright, well I been using a Duncan Jazz pickup in various guitars for the past 3 years.. love it.. but theres a certain tone im trying to achieve by using it and its not QUITE perfect yet, close but not quite..

But know what sound I would REALLY love to achieve? I dunno if it would be possible with a solidbody, but that like Hollowbody sound, similar to like Alex Skolnick Trio stuff.. I LOVE that tone he gets. I talked to a guy who took lessons from him and he used I think if I can remember, a Gibson hollowbody..

Think theres any pickup that could get that tone or somewhat close to it? Going thru either Maple neck/mahogany wings or Maple neck/Alder wings solidbodies? 6 and 7

Like if you heard the song "Dont talk to strangers" by Alex Skolnick Trio.. God I love that tone, although it really does sound more acousticy, so I doubt I could replicate it.. but maybe if I were to get piezo's + some kinda pickup + Pod XT magic..

When i saw them live, he used a Goldtop Les Paul through a fender tube amp. (Couldnt recall the make of it).
He also used an OD in front of it occaisionally, for a slight drive.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.
