Idea for PU combination

Hey.. well I think im gonna invest in a RGT42 for just a 6 to practice/teach guitar with/take lessons, and I was thinking of a good PU combination.. hmm

Now since the Activators are passive pickups, if you have a switch with them going to a Jazz, would there be a huge spike in volume? I know that you can't hook up actives with passives, due to the output being so different, but now that the activators are passives, Would that be able to work without it being a huge volume jump?

Thinking an Activator bridge and Jazz neck, would be pretty sweet combo maybe.. If the activator sounds awesome, I'll get a 7 version too

But, I would like to know if theres any dimarzio equivilant pickups to the duncan Jazz, I think I asked before but got no answer.. Would a Air Norton sound the closest to a Jazz? I havent really tried any dimarzio pups besides evo/x2n/blazes =[ but it would be nice to have both dimarzio, for looks I guess. Duncan and dimarzio's look funky when together imo

the air norton is worlds apart from the Jazz imo. The jazz is rather bright and clear, the air norton is way darker and smoother in tone. Something like the PAF-Pro or PAF Joe would be way closer to a Jazz.

Paf pro has alot more output than a jazz.
Dmz VPaf or regular paf would be closer.

It's actually more of an impedance thing than a volume thing, as I recall - strictly in terms of output, the 707 wasn't THAT much louder than my Blaze Bridge. Maybe slightly, but no more.

So, you should be fine.

I don't see your combo being a problem. Worst case scenario, you lower the D-Activator a little to help match volumes. And no, the Air Norton isn't all that close to the Jazz, but I'm not 100% what would be comparable.

I am the mask you wear.
