yeah, the eq helps change the tone of my whole rig so it makes it easier to find a nice sound. my sound is based off jerry Cantrell's tone.

well this is off the subject kind of. at my dads house i get no feedback what so ever, no noises. but at my moms house when i put the ds-1 with it's gain at 3-6 o'clock, it just starts squealing. i even have a rocktron hush pedal, if i turn that all the way up it lowers the volume and sustain. what all can i do to fix this?

My Guitars:
(Black) 1989 Charvel Model 3 - (Black) Ibanez RG7620

My Amp /Effects:
Crate xt120R > Dunlop Original Crybaby > Boss DS-1 > DOD FX40B EQ > Boss TR-2 > Boss DD-3 > Digi-Tech Whammy Pedal > (Whammy Dry Out)Boss TU-2 > Rocktron Hush Pedal.

Try playing in a different room. The acoustics of the room at your mom's house obviously aren't working out well with your rig.

That's what I would do.

I don't know so much about acoustics, but in a band situation, mic placement in relation to where the other equipment is can make some weird noises

I'm not sound engineer, but I'm pretty sure that how the sound reflects of the walls and at what angles will affect the tone/feedback. If you have a carpeted room as opposed to a room with hardwood flooring or tile, less of it will bounce back and create echoes and possibly feedback. Again, I'm no expert, so all I can suggest is to try a different room or something for sound isolation.
