These sound alright?

I've been talking to Eric (from Erics guitars) about shipping some DiMarzios over for my RG1570, how does:

Bridge: Tone Zone
Middle: Red Velvet
Neck: PAF Pro

..sound for a fairly kinda versatile, mostly rocky guitar?? I'm administering the harder more metal stuff on other guitars but this'll be for the softer (comparatively) things.

It's quicker if I go the all black route (since colored pups add 6-8 weeks apparently and add $10 a pup) although I was thinking of white pups.. but I'm not sure if I care THAT much about it so I'll probs stick with black for now.

So yeah, sound ok??

Also it'll only come to about $225 USD for all 3, which works out nicely for me over here in England! l33t!

That sounds like a pretty good combo for an all-round rock axe. Other sound choices (as it were ) in that category would be the good 'ol Super Distortion for the bridge, and it's really hard to beat an Air Norton in the neck spot, although a PAF is always a sweet neck choice too.

Please be kind to snakes. They can't help it.

Yeah I was saving an Air Norton for another guitar with a Steve's Special in the bridge so I can do the JP thang. Cool cool.

You were talking to Eric recently? Dude, first, tell him I said hi. Second, that's great news - last I heard, no one'd heard anything from him in months, and we were a little worried.

Yeah I mailed him about a week ago asking for a quote for the shipping to the UK, he replied pretty quick! Will do, I have a load of money in my Paypal account I was just looking for an excuse to spend, and these pickups will be it haha.

EdgeCrusher is a jewel in the rough
Good deal, I LOVE the Tone Zone 6 in basswood RG's, my favorite pickup ever I like it just a bit more than the DS6, though it doesnt have as much clarity as the DS, it just sounds so fat and mean, yet still smooth for soloing.

Never tried the PAF pro or any of the Dimarzio single coils, but Ive been thinking about getting either a Blue Velvet or a Cruiser for the middle for my RG570.

Yep. I agree, it sounds like a really good choice.

do you have the Tone Zone in other guitars? if you're going for a little more mellow of a tone, you could try the FRED. the FRED w/ Paf Pro neck is what Satriani used on his early recordings.

I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways,
we could reverse the particle flow through the gate.
We'll cross the streams.

Nah, at the moment the only 2 guitars I own are the 1570L and my Feline 7, which has EMG 707's in, so this'll be my first taste of DiMarzio goodness.
