Anyway, I like these kind of solos much better, I mean a simple harmony, or something, with the right effects, then a supershred type stuff...

Yeah, just make sure you time the delay to follow the tempo of the song. All repeats hit on the downbeat, thus how he gets that sound.

IS there any other effect pedal that makes the same thing that the Digitech Whammy does?

It's often imitated, but never duplicated. Just go for the Digitech. It's an absolute must have to cop Morello's style.
