D sonic 7 soundclips???

Man I can't explain the way I've been feeling towards playing the guitar ever since I purchased my long awaited real amp and cab setup (6505 with mesa V30 cab). It's already taking me to a whole new level of playing. I haven't felt this happy in a long time seriously. Anyway I'm using a K7 with the stock paf pickups that come with it. I ordered a D-sonic 7for the bridge and it's been on back order for so long now it's driving me nuts.

So my question....does anyone here have any sound clips with the D sonic 7's in their 7 string Ibanez guitars? How much of a difference am I going to notice from switching from a paf low output pickup to a much higher output pick up? Should the pinch harmonics squeal even more than they are now...and yes with the gain up they squeal pretty damn good just not quite on the level as "Killswitch Engage". I have always loved emg's. Zimbloth was the one who suggested I go with the Dsonic's to eliminate having to get my nice axe routed. He actually suggested I go with a K7 as well I thank him for all of his advice...Zimbloth you are the man. It's early in the morning I'm hopped up on too much caffeine and am absolutely in love with my 6505 the power and mega distortion it delivers really blows me away....now with a high output pick up I can only imagine the difference.
I'm still learning....I've noticed that the louder I crank the main volume the lower I can go on the pre gain and still have one hell of a crunching sound.

Ignore this post if yall want like I said I'm all wired right now but would really love to hear some clips of the d sonic 7 if possible. Thanks in advance.

I recorded a little something the other night with my RG7621 w/DS7. I was searching around on this site for some drum tracks since I am unable to record any and stole the one Ryan made and posted in another thread, so thanks to Ryan for the sweet drum track!

I used the Vox on the US Higain model with a Bad Monkey up front. I layered 3 tracks, 1 100% left, 1 100% right, and 1 in the middle. Its kinda sloppy, but you get the idea. I cant wait for my Chris Woods mahogany+flame maple body! That should beef up the tone a bit!

Dude that is some brutal ass Distortion. exactly what I am looking for. I'm just wondering why my D sonic 7 has been on back order for so damn long I ordered it over a month ago....but man this has me excited. Thanks for the clip I didn't realize that anyone even replied to this thread until just now....but that definately gives me an idea of the sound which seems to be much higher in gain compared to the PAF's.

BTW speaking of pick ups once I have the D sonic 7 in the bridge how would the Vai Evolution sound like if I was to put one in the neck? This is going on a K7 which we all know is Mahogany. I'm just messing around with ideas but for something to create a super clean sound would an evolution/neck position be a good combo to go along with the D sonic/bridge set up? Thanks again.

Thanks guys!

The Evo7 would probably be a bit much in the neck since its higher output than the DS7. The Blaze neck or Air Norton would work well if you really want to get rid of the other PAF7.

yeah I'm thinking too far ahead I'll stick with the D sonic and PAF combo for a while and see how I settle on that but I'll take your advice thanks again.

Haha, thanks man Glad you like it. The PAF7s in the K7s I think have a brutal sound to it, the key is you just have to set the pickup height really high with those. I had a DS7 in my blue K7 as you know, it sounded great. I wouldn't say they sound all that different than the PAF7s really... just higher output, more powerful leads, slightly less bright attack. I got amazing tone with it thru my TriAxis and F30... through my ENGL it wasn't as nice... pickups vary amp to amp. Also certain string brands/gauges can sound a bit off on the low end, so definitely try to use good strings.

Peaveys are very forgiving amps, my Peavey was my main amp for a long time up until almost a year ago... and most pickups you threw at it sounded awesome. With my subsequent amps, it's hit or miss... but if you have a 5150 you should be in good shape. If you get the DS7 and its not to your liking, I'm pretty sure I can help you get it right... I have played that K7/DS7 combo through a million different amps.

Good luck

thanks man yeah the 6505/5150 seems to make any guitar sound nice and brutal. My dad's Tele Esquire with the standard pick up sounds heavy as hell plugged into it.lol I'm simply looking for something with more gain to it that's all and it sounds like the D sonic is the way to go. I have nothing against the PAF's at all really I'm just really into an experimenting mood. That along with my tubescreamer that should be in any day now should have me drooling once I have it all set up. I'm using D'addario 10's strings BTW I like them alot they seem much better than the ernie ball's that I used to use. Thanks again bro I appreciate all the advice you have given me.
