knifetheglitter is headed in the right direction.
Blaze "custom" in rg7620 neck same as bridge?

hey there. the stock dimarzios that come in the older 7620s are the blaze or "custom" or "new" or whatever, but is the neck pickup the same exact one as the bridge. Reason im asking is because i took out the neck, and want to use it as a bridge in another guitar, and want it to match this guitar.

no, the neck and bridge New 7 pickups are not the same--the bridge one, like most bridge pickups, is wound hotter. so you'll need to get another bridge one [they're stamped "B2"] to make your new guitar sound the same.

if you need a pair of the New7's, i've got some you can have for $40 shipped.

I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways,
we could reverse the particle flow through the gate.
We'll cross the streams.

Underrated pickups - they kick loads of ass in mahogany.

yep, i love the neck pickup, i left it in my 7620 cause i really don't think any other dimarzio 7 neck pickup is any better, its not too hot, its smooth, and it sounds great! the air norton might be a bit nicer, but not by much.
