Question installing Lace Alumitone Deathbar and Xbar
So just got a pair of these to replace my RGA8 LZ8's (thank ....ing god). Lace's website has a bunch of wiring diagrams but none of them are specifically for these pickups. I've never personally wired my own pickups before so I had a few questions.
1.) What wire goes where? They both have a green, a red, a white, and a white/black wire. 2.) They came with 4 small foam pads, are these worth putting on and do I attach them to the bottom of the pickup or the guitar cavity itself? 3.) Is a 500k pot ideal or should I go 250k? sorry for the noobness but I've tried to search and these pickups don't seem to be popular enough to have a diagram that I can find anyway. And more so, I just lack the simple and basic knowledge of what colors go to where. Thank you very much in advance for any and all help! |

1- This is the correct diagram : http://www.lacemusic.com/pdf/13.pdf
2- I don't know ![]() 3- They recommend 250k but 500k should work, tone will be brighter tho. Current rig : Agile Intrepid Pro with Lace Aluma Deathbar pickup -> Eleven Rack + TC G-Major -> ESI Near 5 Experience |

I use 500K pots and it sounds good.
Tone is subjective, of course. |

Could try placing the pickups into the cavity and line them up properly, then use a very small drillbit (or pencil or nail, whatever will easily fit through the 4 mounting holes) to mark a small indent where you'll need to drill the pilot holes to mount the pickups.

http://www.lacemusic.com/pdf/DeathXBar.pdf
Here are the measurements for the X-Bar/Deathbar, if that helps at all with the mounting. |
