Guitar: Agile Interceptor Pro 727
Tuning: Drop G Strings: 70-60-52-36-17-13-10 I have been having a hell of a time trying to get my Agile Interceptor Pro 727 tuned with the Floyd. Ive watched countless videos and read many tutorials and I understand what needs to be done for the most part and it makes sense to me for higher tuning, its just that when I go to block the bridge from underneath and tune to my tuning or lower (ive tried drop F and drop E with no luck) the bridge becomes level again and I no longer have tension from the floyd onto my block underneath it, therefore going back to square one. Ive tried screwing the bottom screws in all the way, but when I try and tune it always ends up becoming unblocked. Am I on the right track and just havent figured it out yet? Is my string tension too tight? Ive had it floating before and it worked great, it has just been blocked for awhile and id like to add some dives for the EP im about to record. Thank you! If you're going the blocking route for a setup, make sure you block both sides of the trem (with blocks that are cut precisely! If the bridge isn't perfectly level with the blocks, it definitely won't be level when it's fully floating) while you're adjusting things. How much experience do you have with floyds? It's a bit of a learning curve, and especially since you're changing tunings, you should be able to level the bridge manually (i.e., adjusting the spring screws to balance tension between strings and springs without a block) before you start blocking it. Also, if the trem's been blocked for a while, the springs need time to stretch and adjust to the tension of the strings so it might be a good idea to just leave it overnight and try again tomorrow...

I don't understand the question... Is it becoming unblocked as you tune down? Or...

I'm confused. If you want it to float again, why do you have a block in there?

it may cost a bit. but you could consider buying a tremol-no.
Tremol-No™ Oh, and you might consider to mute the springs too. those things can catch resonance, and its nightmarish to hear, because its hard to control. Therefore, dampen the springs if you dont use the floyd

/- <= floyd with battery underneath it to "block" it while everything is loose and I try to tune my guitar. Before I can get it to even tuning how its supposed to be, the battery has popped out because there is too much tension from the strings and the floyd is stuck in an upward position no matter how tight the screws are with 4 springs in there. My final attempt I tuned to drop Ab and it avoided this problem, but it was WAY out of tune which kinda ruins the whole point of blocking it first. I think i might try some thinner strings because the 27" scale already adds extra tension. AMBIENT HARDCORE PROJECT http://www.facebook.com/paragon503 SOUNDCLOUD http://soundcloud.com/gemmeadia |

Just don't bother blocking it. If you tune each string to the correct pitch, over and over again, it will eventually float properly.
The issue is the spring strength. If you are tuning it and it either it raising up really high, or it's cranked right down against the body, then you're going to have to tighten/loosen the springs, respectively. You can just continue to fine tune it this way - it will take a while, but it will work. EDIT: You said that the bridge is angled upwards when in tune. Are the screws as far into the body as they can go? Losing sleep at Cambridge uni |

Block it so that you can't dive and loosen the spring claw. Then it will stay put with even minimal tension on the strings. Once you're in tune, lock the nut, and tighten the spring claw until the block loosens, and then adjust the spring claw until the guitar is in tune again.

I had my Loomis Tuned down to Drop G back when I still had it. I used a standard 11-54 Ernie Ball Set, and a Low 66 and it played great. Mind you it was a 26.5 inch scale, and yours is a 27.5, so it's going to feel tight regardless. For the time being I recommend you block it and just play it as a fixed bridge until you get some different strings because I think that might be the issue.

). This guitar plays so awesome though, I love it.

I am definitely going to look into getting a Tremel-no! Thats so awesome that there is dive only mode, should make working with the floating bridge way easier.

maybe get some shorter springs i got 3 in my 6 string C standard 25.5
(11-56) 2 shorter on the sides and one longer in the middle in a triangular shape and it works perfect more than enough wiggle room in the back.

I have two tremel-no's but when I want dive only, the best thing I've found is a trem-stop or similar product. You screw it in place of one of the springs and it has an adjustable bolt that pushes against the block. This is the most solid system to me.

That sounds cool! Unfortunately in my case i would need to be on the opposite side to prevent it from pulling up, but then I wouldnt be able to divebomb and thats the purpose (for me).

This is what I have. I got it for $10 on ebay, I know that's a lot more than it would cost to make but it was super easy and it works really well. I should be sponsored by Ibanez.
