Matt08642 is a jewel in the rough
A few wiring questions...

Ok, I have a standard SSS strat (Squier) so I wanna do some mods on it before I do them on expensive guitars.

How would I go about adding a killswitch?

I would replace the following tone pot with the killswitch.

I don't care if the switch is a button or toggle.

I think it would be cool to have one like Buckethead uses at 1:32 here http://youtube.com/watch?v=86DEKFissl4

a kill switch simply shorts your hot to ground, it's a very simple circuit

why not cut a little hole in your pickguard for it? then you'll still have that tone control.

I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways,
we could reverse the particle flow through the gate.
We'll cross the streams.

xplorer can only hope to improve
I don't know where you would get one, but if you could find one of those tone pots that have the coil tap button built into it, you could wire it up as a momentary kill switch. I belive some fender fat strats have this type of pot.

That way it would only mute the guitar when you were holding the button in. You could do some cool tapping on it to get some Buckethead style shit going on.

I have a kill switch wired into one of my warlocks, I use it the same way you would a Les Paul style guitar with one pickup volume turned off. It's a cool little addition if you are into that sort of thing. (Think Tom Morello). Like was said before, just use the switch to ground out your hot signal. My on/off only controlls the bridge pickup.

Does anyone actually use the second tone knob on a strat type guitar anyway? heh

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

DO YOU WANT A SWITCH THAT YOU'LL HAVE TO FLICK BACK & FORTH, SO YOU CAN HAVE THE OPTION OF LEAVING IT OFF WHEN YOU WANT?
IE: LATCHING SWITCH

OR

DO YOU WANT A SWITCH ALA A BUTTON THAT YOU CAN TAP ON RYTHMICALLY & WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR FINGER OFF OF IT, IT GOES BACK ON?
IE; MOMENTARY SWITCH.

WHICHEVER OF THE TWO YOU WANT, MAKE SURE THAT YOU KNOW THE DIAMETER OF YOUR POTENTIOMETER HOLE, & ASK YOUR LOCAL ELECTRONICS STORE WHETHER IT BE RADIO SHACK OR OTHER, & Y0U CAN JUST WIRE IT UP IN BETWEEN THE REMAINING CONTROLS, & THE OUTPUT JACK.
