Which bridge pickup haZ this specs?
Deep set maple neck, alder body, ebony fingerboard
- boomy low end - icepicky attack - honk - thin single notes +meaty low mids +chord+single note clarity +high output (not super high, just high enough) +lots of mids +focused +smooth top end Only DiMarzios or Seymour Duncan IMO EQ should be something like bass 6, mid 7.5, treble 5. DiMarzio: EVO2, D-Sonic, Super 3, D Activator X (but seems to have too much output), MAYBE even Dominion or The Breed.... SD: No ....ing idea, none of them really seem to have specs I need... |

Dude I am so tempted to point you toward the Aftermath, but since you say only Dimarzio/SD, I'd point you towards the D Sonic.

6 string or 7 string?
I would say a Crunch Lab and Liquifire would be perfect. They are brilliant in Alder. The EVO's also work good in Alder. Edit: Nevermind I assume 6 since you are considering Dominion. I would say Pearly Gates/jazz should be a good choice to. I have a pearly gates in my Les Paul and it is awesome. |

6 stringer, standard D and E. No Crunch Lab, I seem to be the only person that doesn't like that pickup much. Isn't as focused as I like it to be and seems to pull a lot more focus on low end, where I like pickups to be a bit more middy with just enough treble to have clarity and not sound dull. Crunch Lab sounds to me like it has integrated mini fuzz pedal.
Aftermath wouldn't have enough low end/meat with that wood combination. I wouldn't use middle position as both pickups so they don't have to get along that way. Mid position will be 1 coil from Liquifire since it's goin into neck. |

How about a Custom/59 hybrid? I would look at the EVO or EVO 2. Its seems like they have exactly what you want and match the EQ you were talking about. The dominion would be another thought. I have not tried it so I cannot speak to it. |

Evolution have that terrible icepicky sound i hate. EVO2 is said to be smoother in that area.
Invader is too heavy to be combined with Liquifire for me. I'd have to boost highs too much and cut some lows and that would kill my lead tone ![]() Evo2 seems to fit the most for now. |

DiMarzio Blaze Custom... I swear no one ever listens to me...
EDIT: Oh shit... There is no blaze custom 6 string. Go Tone Zone. "... and on either side of the river was the tree of life. The leaves of this tree were for the healing of nations." "He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle and the herb for the service of man." "Lifes too short to hate Floyd Roses." |

It's a 7 string pup. Sounds to me like you're looking for 6 stringers.

By specs Tone Zone seems to have awful amount of bass... I'll check it out anyways.
EDIT: Youtube vids seem too bassy for my taste. |

It's only one of the most popular 6 string pups DiMarzio has produced... And probably one of the most even sounding as well. You should probably focus a little less on the hard numbers and how the pickup actually performs...

First thing I hear:
Second: Okay, sounds bassy to me. Bassy to be combined with Liquifire tone I want. |

If I'm not mistaken that sounds fairly close to a Petrucci setup.
I think he was using Tone Zone/Air Norton (later D-Sonic/Air Norton) at one point and now CrunchLab/Liquifire. If you look, the liquifire and air norton bear a close resemblance according to their specs. "... and on either side of the river was the tree of life. The leaves of this tree were for the healing of nations." "He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle and the herb for the service of man." "Lifes too short to hate Floyd Roses." |

^Yes that is what he used
I just put an Air Zone in the Neck of my Ibanez. I really like it. It is very fluid and full. The mid number seems wrong to me though. I barely look at the EQ numbers. I look at the output number but hardly ever the EQ number. I still say: Evo2 (Bridge) / Liquifire (Neck) or Tone Zone (Bridge) / Air Zone (Neck) |

I'm 100% with Liquifire. Yes, LiquiFire was made from Air Zone and Crunch Lab from D-Sonic.
I'm just looking to fit LiquiFire now. EVO2 still seem to be the best, altho I'm kinda disappointed there are just a few EVO2 demos... |

The point I was making is that any of those pups should theoretically balance nicely with the Liquifire. Also, I don't think the Air Zone and the Air Norton are the same pickup. I'm not sure how the Evo or Evo2 compare to the Evo7 in tone, but I run an Evo7/Liquifire7 in one of my 7s. I find the Evo to be a bit thin when paired with the 7 string Liquifire, but again, I don't know if this is the case with the 6 string models. I like the Evo, but I would pair it with something different if the Evo2s are anything like the 7 string version of the Evo.

Apparently the dominions are also amazing - i've heard nothing but rave reviews from at least 5 people now.
I'm ordering a set for myself. |
