String sizes required to maintain same tension when down tuning further
6 string:
Right now I am tuned to C standard, running 56-12 not-even-slinkys. If I were to tune down to B flat (1 step), what string sizes would I require to produce the same tension? Thanks |

13's would get you close enough... Although most sets are 13 - 56, so you're only really changing the higher strings.

Calculate that for each -1 step u need +1 on highest string thickness.
9s for e, 10s for d, 11 for c... or if u want it tighter 10s for e, 11s for d, 12s for c, 13 for Bb... |
