BKP Thread

THinking about buying a set of BKPs? Post it here! I'm thinking about putting a set of nailbombs or painkillers in my Dean Vendetta 4.0, but I'm not sure if its a good investment for me. Any ideas?

I just ordered a Painkiller bridge for my RGA121, pretty stoked about it. I'll put up clips once I get it installed. Havent played any others yet though

That thread is about pickups for sale, this is about questions and advice for people who are interested in buying a set of bare knuckle pickups.

Has anyone played the Painkillers? Also, does anyone know the price of these pickups? There not on guitar center and I want to know how much they cost, since my budget is pretty low right now.

I've heard good things about them for djent, though I have not had personal experience with them so I can't say for any certainty. Price wise it depends as to where you get them; I got a set of nailbombs used for 250 Canadian, but new they'd probably be over the 300 range.

Used bro!

They're very very very crunchy pickups and imho they can sound very good on all mahogany guitars or generally very warm guitars, otherwise it will be harsh-fest. I personally love them, but they're a one trick pony for Meshuggah-type sound imho.
The neck Painkiller is awesome, juicy, warm and percussive though, with a cool single coil-ish vibe.

Considering a Painkiller for a Schecter C-7 Plus and have liked the clips I have heard, but this raises some concern?

I wanna get a Mississippi Queen humbucker shaped P90 for the bridge, and then two Mother's Milk single coils for the middle and neck
It's been difficult finding a humbucker that has that pouncy single coilish sound to it, the Mississippi Queen seems like a solid choice for me though, totally loving how it sounds.

Now I just need the money.

Shit, $300 used! Hell, I'd rather buy a Jackson rr5, sell the guitar I have now and then use that money to buy a set of nailbombs. I think the Painkillers may have too much mids.

Not sure the conversion rate, but Warpig covered are 130 UK and Cold Sweat covered about 119 UK. Both of which I'm about to order to put in an Ibanez RGA7. First BKP experience. The Alnico V Warpig for Bridge & Alnico V Cold Sweat for Neck. I liked the response graph for both. Bass response for the Warpig & the treble response for the Cold Sweat.

Buying them straight from BareKnuckle site itself. To be shipped to New York.

I got EMG's in my Ibanez ARZ800 & Lundgren M8's in my Ibanez RGA8.

Figured I'd update my progress. Just got done ordering the BKP's. Warpig covered Chrome & Cold Sweat covered Chrome. Combine plus shipping to the states, a little over $220.00. 7-string pickups, that are going in an Ibanez RGA7.

...we are leavinggggg!

Edit: As I was posting this, I received a notification from BKP that my order is now being processed. Too cool!

I have PK bridge in PRS type guitar with mahogany body with walnut top and 5pc rosewood/ebony neck with ebony fingerboard in dropped C or B. it soudns tight, it has fast bass response, it has very focused mids. definetely very good choice for mahogany guitars and low tuned metal.

in the neck I have VHII which I love for leads and clean sounds, especially in single coil configuration it's like I want to kiss my guitar

I just like to hit some strings.

I use Aftermath's in two of my 7's, an RG7321 and an Rg7621. They sound amazing! So crushing yet the clarity is like no other pickup I've ever heard!

Just ordered a calibrated set of Aftermath 7's for my RG1527M, but have to wait 3 damn weeks for them to get here from the UK, because I was picky about the specs (short leg, open coils, black bolts, 4-conductor, etc). Till then, I'm stuck with the stock V77 and V87 pickups >.<

Stupid question, but all bare knuckle pick ups are passive, right? And if they do make any actives, what are there names?

I'm glad this thread has been started so we can all now learn about all the BKP's.

Oh wait there have been at least 500 versions of this thread in the last 2 years. Please do a search. This info has been discussed at length many times. The super long for sale thread you were linked earlier has all the info you could ever need if you care to spend the time to look through it.

Then don't come here. If there have been so many threads posted on this, then post to them instead of coming to this one and bitching about how its exactly like every other thread. You're not saying anything origanal, if you bothered to read the comments on this page you would've noticed that some one said pretty much the same thing except without the sarcasm. And sorry if I didn't read every ....ing post on a thread about pickups for sale and expected them to have a huge conversation about whats on this thread. Please, go to anyother thread and give positive feedback there instead of posting negative feedback here.
