Tuning instability, heavy gauge strings...

Is it true that the setup of a floyd (edge pro in this case) is related to your tuning and string gauge?
I mean, of course you need to set up the springs and perhaps action again, but about the rest...

Let me explain myself... I'm having a lot of tuning stability problems at this moment (whammy dive -> 20 percent off in tuning!), and I'm planning to have the guitar set up(I can handle changing action, adjusting springs and so on, but these problems are beyond that). Right now, the guitar is tuned down one whole step, and I'm playing 12-52 strings.

There's a chance I'll be playing in standard tuning again in a couple of months. Now of course I'll have to readjust my bridge and springs, but does that mean I'll have to have my guitar totally set up again (I.e. something I can't do myself...)?

If you go to the ibanezrules site, such a tuning instability also relates to studs and things like that...

I heard someone say that 12-52 is too heavy for floating trems? It's less heavy then seven strings, isn't it...
Is this a general opinion? I mean, as long as you setit up accordingly.... (my problems were there long before the heavy gauge strings...)

Thanks for the advice!

Sounds like you've got a problem with the knife edges or studs, or possibly part of the trem is grabbing against the body somewhere.
A locking trem can be set up for whatever gauge you want, providing you have enough spring tension available.
What model guitar and trem have you got?

Kevan Geier, the tremolno guy, suggests using, i think it was graphite lubricant on the studs to prevent that problem.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

...but i'd suggest just using a tremel-no.
Yes, you will need to have your guitar re-set-up for moving back to standard.
