Or route the pickup cavity so it's square, then getting a peice of wood to fill it is going to be a lot easier to cut/sand.

My friend Zach put wood filler in my neck pickup hole and it looks fine.

yes i technically have a handsaw and sandpaper, but i don't have the skill to use them well, my coordination is so bad that i'd just cut it crooked or whatever and waste too much time with it. it's a miracle i can even play guitar.

but seriously, i think i'll give the wood block a consideration and i can try to get access to someone's electric saw. as far as what type of wood and glue to use, which would be the best?

Titebond for the glue, and any quality wood for the block. Your guitar is basswood, which is a softwood, so I guess a nice bit of pine would do. Looks like that's what they're using in that tutorial linked on the first page of this thread.
