![]() | Why did I just pay $90 for a Hipshot Bridge?! I just got a Gold Hipshot Hardtail bridge in the mail today, I'm not too impressed with the "elagance" of it. The saddles aren't polished and coated with this flat gold crap that looks like it will rub off in two days. Plus the saddles are rough looking like they were not buffed or sanded or whatever. Does anyone know something about why these are supposed to be great bridges or did I just buy a turd that was labeled Cadillac? ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The Hipshot is a good quality bridge, mainly because the base plate is machined brass, highly resonant. Their trem is the closest you'll get to an older PRS trem which had been made of a one-piece machined brass block, baseplate & sustain block all machined as one piece. For a non locking trem, those are still among the best out there. As far as the Hardtail, just pick one up & hold it in one hand, while holding one of the more widely used ones in the other, the Hipshot is obviously heavier, which will increase mass, which will add to resonance.
