Idiot question re: X2N-7

Well, I just (finally!) got my S back from the local tech, with a "newly" installed X2N-7, and I must admit, it doesn't sound quite right. It sounds a bit too twangy, especially in the lower registers. Clean, it sounds like it's parallel wired to my ears, but is this just a tonal characteristic of the pickup?

Help me out here :S

Oh, and another question. Is it the black, or the red wire that is supposed to be grounded? THe black is grounded in mine.

Neither the black nor red should be grounded in stock dimarzio wiring.

"Normal wiring"
Red is hot
Black and white are the series link
Green(and bare) is ground

Ok, well then *should* be wired correctly, I guess. It just sounds an awful lot like it's parallel wired.

Oh, and the green wire seems to on the switch, not grounded. Shit this is confusing.

Sounds like it's not wired correctly at all to me.

In fact, it sounds like the guy used Duncan's wiring style, and not Dimarzios.

Okay..

It just sounds too twangy with the pick attack, especially on the low B. Apart from that, it just sounds too bassy, and "round". It doesn't have that sharp sound I expected from that pickup at all. The stocker sounded sharper, when it was still in.

Basically, what you'll want to do is put the bare and green on the ground (On the pot), then put the RED to the switch and make sure the black and white are soldered together.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

Yep, wired completely wrong. The KxK Strat prototype has an X2N-7 in it, and the attack is massive. No twang, no round bottom end.

Dude, you should try to rewire it yourself, you'll get it done sooner, don't have to leave your house, and get the satisfaction of having done it yourself.

If he soldered the black and white (or taped or whatever) them togehter, all you gotta do is flip the red and the green wires and call it a day.
