Noticed this with my DS7

For some reason with my DS7 in my 2027 i get a hum when i face my amp, but no hum when facing away.

What is the reason behind this

The D-Sonic is VERY prone to noise and interference. There were a couple threads on here about this issue.

Yep. And Dimarzio never really addressed it. I've talked to Steve Blucher at Dimarzio about this pretty extensively, and they even tried to fix mine. It's a defect/issue inherent to the pickup.

A good noise gate is crucial with this pickup.

I think it has to do with the mismatched coils that it has.

ah ok, thanks guys.

Its really not to bad with no noise gate. I can barley notice it, however when i face my amp at about 2-3 feet then you can hear it.

It does this with any electrical field generator - amps, computers, power sockets, you name it.

Yep, pretty much.

If you have a selectable frequency EQ filter, you can completely get rid of it. At a guess, I'd say it lives somewhere about 6-7k, maybe even up around 10 or 11.

Owkay... And I just ordered one to get in S7420.
We'll see, the whole rig is getting overhauled anyway, so a few bucks more or less... Rather less of course.

Trust your ears.

In life and music, what is is but that doesn't always mean it's what it should. Change, is in our hands.
