Strings for 7 strings!

What's up!

I was reading on the forum that apparently the majority of the 7 string packs you can buy out there are not extremely desirable because the low B string is too light and flaps more than it should.

Do you guys think that 9-56 strings would have that type of problem?

Also, what if I buy standard gauge 9 strings and then something like a gauge 60 low B string. Do I have to make sure my guitar is setup for gauge 10 or is it going to survive that extra tension pretty well? I'm talking about a RG7621 here

Thanks!

if the string is too floppy or not is all personal preferance if you like it one way theres nothing to stop you from having it like that
the changes you would have to make if you were only changeing the guage of that one string would be minimal

You've got your head down
You've got your eyes closed
You look so pitiful now

Your body encrusted with ash
Breath heavy with toxins
Hair singed and matted
Clothes frayed and burnt

You are left with nothing

What 6-string gauge were you use to & what do you plan on tuning your 7-string to? It's all personal preference.

I used D'Addario 10-59 string pack and it works fine for my Drop A tuning.

i use D'Addario EXL120-7's (09 - 54), and i don't feel the B is floppy at all. infact, i had intonation problems with thicker gauges.

I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways,
we could reverse the particle flow through the gate.
We'll cross the streams.

Wiz is just really nice
Well, I'm currently using 10s DR Black Beauties on my Ibanez Artist 2617 and they're very very pleasant. I'd like something similar for my 7 string, although I think I should go for something lighter like 9 gauge so that I can bend more freely

I use Ernie Ball's 10-56 7 string set in B standard without problems. It's up to you though to decide if it feels right or not.

I use Blue Steel hybrid strings tuned to A reg.(LTHB) Thats .010 .013 .017 .030 .042 .052 .060. This set feels nice and solid at this tuning.

I do use EB slinky green 7's for my guitar I have tuned to B.
