Neck shapes: Wizard vs. Wizard 7

does anyone have a comparison pic of the two neck profiles? obviously the 7 is wider, but i'm trying to find out if it differs in any other way. i'm building a custom 7-string with a neck shape based on my favorite 6-string neck, and trying to figure out what's the best way to adapt it to a 7-string's size.

All the neck dimensions are listed in the catalog, which is available on the website in pdf format. It even has the Wizard 7 on there (even though no sevens appear in the catalog ).

that's helpful, but i'm not sure if you're quite getting what i want to know.

for example, i traced these two Charvel necks at the first fret, using the same piece of cardboard, and have the lines overlapping, and i'm looking for that sort of comparison with the Wizard and Wizard 7....i'd do it myself, but i don't have a good way to do it in such a way that i can get them to overlap the way i'd like, to see one right against the other.

So your looking at shape...not width thickness and radius, right? I have a Wizard, Wizard II, and Wizard 7 at home. I'll check them out and try to give you a tracing similar to yours.

thanks man

Stitch....if you go to the Trade Secrets section of www.stewmac.com there's a short tutorial on how to do it, but they use plexiglass and a scribe....i just used a pen and cardboard, but otherwise it's basically the same procedure.

Just so I get this right for you...I'm not a luthier.
What part of the neck do you want me to take the tracings from, the 7th fret?

i actually did mine from the 1st fret, but wherever should be fine, as long as it's the same place on both guitars....if you're able to do it in a few spots, that'd be even better.

Finally, here it is. Grad school has been a bitch lately. Anyway, the Wizard 7 is from a 1998 RG7620. The Wizard is from a 2005 SA260FM. I think the 2006 model SA's have a different profile. If you need more profiles. I have a '91 RG450DX with a Wizard II as well. These were taken at the first fret.
