X2N7 actually sounded "bigger" than the other two, a nice pronounced lower midrange and no icepick highs or even sharp upper mid frequencies, tighter and clearer than the two.

If it were me, i would go for the x2n7 everytime, and if i had about 200 bucks to spare, i would just go for a lundgren m7 again haha!
i agree with bulb's tone comparison but for my taste i take a blaze custom anyday. and i should have an M7 arriving this week so i'll post a comparison between the D sonic, X2N 7, blaze custom and the M7 when i do.

To my ears, I thought the X2N7 sounded bigger on its own, but in a way as though it had frequency boosts that wouldn't help it sit nicely in a mix. The Invader the same in the upper range. In my opinion, the Blaze sounded like the most tonally balanced and would sound best once sitting in the bigger picture of a processed mix.

The D-Sonic didn't sound half as good as the X2N7 however. The PAF7 sounded a lot like the Blaze, but it was in a Mahogany guitar.

7StringOfABlick is coming to jam with me over the weekend, he has a guitar with an EMG707 and a K7 with PAF7s, maybe I can get a recording using them to add to the list.
We shall

My PAF's will kick all sorts of ass

Beware...hahahahahahahaha

j/k

EDIT:

If i can get moving, i'll have the blaze in my Carvin (mahogany)...so that will be something else to try out. I'll bring my 5150 over too, maybe we can try mic'ing it and seeing which one will sound the best in a more 'live' application? My only beef with SS or Digital stuff is it's very consistent (just doesn't vary all that much).

Yeah, I guess I feel you on that one. All six of the sevens we had last time all sounded different through the Mesa. Yeah we can mic it up and I have a laptop that we can record on to. I just don't have any sort of mic preamp, except for the line 6, but I could put it on a transparent setting. We'll figure something out.

I'm not even going to bother to listen to this until I'm at home and on a good set of speakers, but cheers for doing this.

That would kick superior ass. I deem the idea penultimate. But, it's penultimate to the supreme amount of metal that will be administered this weekend by us.

i would agree with that only to some degree, one of the main reasons i love the podxt so much is because it is VERY responsive, very close to the real thing (tho the real thing is obviously better), but i find that i have to make different patches for different guitars when recording with it, i never had to do that with any other modeling unit...
