NEED WIRING HELP IMDEDATELY!

hi eveyone,

i have installed a killswitch in my guitar, i wired in the tone pot and everything acording to this wiring diagram, http://www.seymourduncan.com/support...tone_5way.html
my problem is on where the pickup selector and the tone pot care soldered together. i have soldered both wires together to the volume pot and now no volume will come out from the pickups. once i tried to solder where they were both on the prond but not touching but then the bridge pup would not work.
so what i am wondering, on the volume pot there is a prong that is soldered backwards onto the volume pot itself, can i un-solder that and put the wire from the tone pot on there?

thanks,

i need a fast reply

write back,

nick

Leave the tab soldered to the pot, this is the ground that makes a pot work as a volume.

Something somewhere else in the curcuit sounds like it's not connecting, or shorting out. I would check the rest of your solder joints for cold ones.

what do you mean by cold ones?

also i put electrical tape on any part of the wire that could be exposed to shorting out.

Cold joints can be recognized by a characteristic grainy, dull gray colour, and can be easily fixed. This is done by first removing the old solder with a desoldering tool or simply by heating it up and flicking it off with the iron. Once the old solder is off, you can resolder the joint, making sure to keep it still as it cools.
That diagram should work as intended, with the tone pot connected right where it is. If the bridge pickup is shorting out, there's something else wrong.

maybe the bridge pickup is a cold solder on the pup selector or maybe its ground is cold.
